Ms. Scott was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. She migrated to the United States in 2000 when she received a Dean's Scholarship to attend Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. During her time at Ithaca, Ms. Scott was a Resident Assistant as well as a Teacher's Assistant in Sociology. She was a member of the African-Latino Society, the Pre-Law Society, and Habitat for Humanity. Ms. Scott represented Ithaca College at the University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference in 2003. In the years 2002, 2003, and 2004 she earned the Gold Pin Award of Academic Excellence from the Office of Multicultural Affairs. She also spent a semester abroad at the University of Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia. Ms. Scott graduated from college in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a double minor in Sociology and Legal Studies.
Ms. Scott moved to Florida where she worked as a legal assistant at a law firm in Weston for approximately two years. From there she attended law school at the University Of Miami School Of Law on a Dean's Scholarship. She was a Quarter Semi Finalist in the John T. Gaubatz 1L Moot Court Competition, and she successfully completed the Litigation Skills I program. Ms. Scott served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Don S. Cohn of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. She also completed a federal judicial internship with the Honorable Judge Patrick A. White of the Southern District of Florida of the United States District Court. She worked as a law clerk at the Legal Services of Greater Miami in the Disability Law Project, where she assisted indigent clients who sought appeal of their Social Security claims. During her vast experience as a law clerk, Ms. Scott has worked at firms specializing in civil litigation, criminal defense, personal injury, and probate law.
Ms. Scott lives in Miramar, Florida with her husband, her son and their two dogs. In her spare time she enjoys cooking West Indian dishes, going to the beach and spending time in Jamaica with her family and friends.
