Mr. Mermiges is an associate in the Miami office and concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation including premises liability, wrongful death, automobile negligence, negligent security, construction defects, property damage, professional negligence, subrogation and insurance coverage issues.
Mr. Mermiges was born and raised in the Detroit-Metro area of southeast Michigan. In high school he won two state championships in debate, and played baseball and ice hockey.
Mr. Mermiges attended college at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor. He was an active member of the Sigma Phi fraternity, serving as social chair and then as vice president. He graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and Creative Writing in 2006.
After finishing his undergraduate education, Mr. Mermiges attended the University Of Miami School Of Law, where he received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. While in Law School, Mr. Mermiges was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, and the managing editor of Jotwell.com. He received a book award in Constitutional Law II and a Dean’s Award in Antitrust. Mr. Mermiges worked as a research assistant for Professor Caroline Corbin and Professor Lili Levi. He received his J.D. magna cum laude in 2010.
Before coming to work for Hightower, Stratton, Wilhelm, Mr. Mermiges gained valuable experience working for Federal Magistrate Judge Andrea M. Simonton and working as an associate attorney for a personal injury firm. He is admitted to the Florida Bar, and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Mr. Mermiges lives in Miami Beach. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, biking, playing pick-up basketball, and traveling.
