“We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle, nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. Give us the tools, and we will finish the job.”
– Winston Churchill
Charles Thompson was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where he graduated from Miami Sunset Senior High School. While in high school, Charles was a member of the football team and wrestling team.
After high school, Charles worked as a sales manager for an import company where he grew the company by more than 150% in a period of seven years. It was during this time that Charles began to pursue his dream to become an attorney. Charles went on to attend Florida International University, while working two full-time jobs, where he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Communication Arts. While at Florida International University, Charles was selected to become a member of the Lambda Pi Eta National Honors Society.
Charles attended Florida International University College of Law, where he was named to the Dean’s List and was a Dean’s Scholar. During law school Charles interned with a renowned South Florida entertainment attorney where he worked predominantly in the music business. After graduation Charles was elected by his colleagues and fellow alumni to be a FIU Law Alumni Association Board Member. At his first board meeting Charles was elected to serve as the President of the FIU Law Alumni Association for 2019-2020.
Charles first began working as a transactional attorney in the entertainment field where he handled matters such as trademarks, publishing, copyrights, licensing, contract negotiations, digital rights management and acquisition, and general artist representation. He also reviewed and analyzed hundreds of industry documents. Charles discovered his love for litigation when covering a hearing for a friend.
After discovering his true calling, litigation, Charles joined a mid-sized civil litigation firm, where his practice focused primarily on first- and third-party insurance defense. Charles has invaluable experience in many crucial stages of insurance litigation, including, but not limited to, settlement negotiations, mediations, depositions, hearings, discovery, and motion practice.
Charles combines his work ethic, diligence, and responsiveness to better serve his clients. When he’s not helping his clients, he can be found playing golf, fishing, or at the park with his wife Dianne and his son Hayden. And in true South Florida fashion, Charles enjoys watching the Miami Dolphins, unless they lose.
